Pokémon Gold opens the second generation and the Johto region: 100 new Pokémon, the day and night cycle, eggs, Shiny Pokémon and two new types, Dark and Steel. Once the League is beaten, the game offers an entire second continent with the return to Kanto and sixteen badges in total.
