Comparison: Pokémon R/Y/B vs Pokémon B/W
Fifteen years separate Pokémon Red, Yellow and Blue from Pokémon Black and White. On one side, 151 creatures in four shades of gray on the Game Boy; on the other, more than 640 species, animated battles and online play on the Nintendo DS.
The heart of the game has not moved: catch, raise, trade and defeat the eight Gym Leaders before the League. Black and White even takes the wink further by offering a regional Pokédex made entirely of new creatures, just like day one in 1996.
What changed the most? The pace of battles, type balancing, the social dimension with worldwide trading, and presentation that plays in a different league. But the thrill of running into a rare Pokémon in the tall grass remains exactly the same.
